The Chargers are a team that every year has potential and expectations but every year fall short of both of those. They did away with Tomlinson, so that opens the door for little man Darren Sproles as the main back. Many have questioned his ability to be an every down back. Ryan Matthews will help out with the load, but if Sproles gets hurt, their running game will be almost completely useless. They were dead last in running last year and it looks like that trend will contine this year.

Philip Rivers is still their quarterback, which is definitely a plus. Vincent Jackson, Rivers’ top target last year is gone. Antonio Gates will still be there to provide Rivers with a tall set of hands.

The AFC West is an unbelievably weak division and for that reason alone I will pick the Chargers to win it with a record of 11-5, maybe even one less win. They just don’t impress me. History reinforces my feelings towards them as well.
