The Chargers have gone to the lengths of bringing back Marques Harris for depth in their thin outside linebackers corps.

Harris, who spent the 2005-08 seasons with the club before being released in February, signed yesterday. He played six games with the San Francisco 49ers this season but suffered a hamstring injury and was released Oct. 27.

The Chargers had Harris in for a physical Nov. 11 but did not sign him. However, they have continued monitoring Merriman’s health while losing two other outside linebackers, Jyles Tucker and Antwan Applewhite, to injured reserve in the past six weeks.
